The Clear Fork Colts will head out on the road to take on the West Holmes Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Clear Fork will be strutting in after a win while West Holmes will be coming in after a defeat.
On Wednesday, Clear Fork got the win against Marion Harding by a conclusive 12-2. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Miley Shafer looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hailly Thrush was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Melodie Blubaugh was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Clear Fork always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, West Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Madison Comprehensive.
West Holmes saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was BRIAR CLINE, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Clear Fork and bumps their season record up to 9-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for West Holmes, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
West Holmes' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clear Fork has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for West Holmes, though, as they've been averaging 10.7 hits. Given Clear Fork's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Clear Fork took their victory against West Holmes in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
