The Independence Patriots will head out to face off against the Greenbrier East Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Independence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Independence made easy work of Sissonville and carried off a 10-3 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Paytin Brehm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kassidy Bradbury, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Lilly, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greenbrier East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Woodrow Wilson by a score of 4-1 on Thursday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Flying Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Madilyn Wellman looked comfortable as she pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Reagan Cline was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ally Martin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Independence has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Greenbrier East, their record is now 15-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Independence has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greenbrier East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Independence's way against Greenbrier East in their previous matchup back in March, as Independence made off with a 10-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
