The Azle Hornets will face off against the Brewer Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Azle fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Granbury on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 12-11.

Bella Tipton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haley Carlson, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and three RBI.
Tipton wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Azle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Brewer won against Saginaw on Friday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Brewer blew past Granbury 18-8. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Kamren Pride was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Keira Miller was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles.
Azle's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7-2. As for Brewer, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Azle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Brewer struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Azle was able to grind out a solid victory over Brewer in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Will Azle repeat their success, or does Brewer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
