Lutheran is 3-0 against Frederick since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lutheran Lions will look to defend their home field against the Frederick Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Lutheran will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Lutheran stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fort Morgan 35-6 at home. The score was close at the half, but Lutheran pulled away in the second half with 28 points.
Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Ben Herbek, who picked up 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Ryken Daugaard, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Herbek was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 63 yards. Mason Kelley also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Frederick aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Thursday extended their overall winning streak to three. They blew past George Washington, posting a 45-7 win at home. The result was nothing new for Frederick, who have now won three games by 28 points or more so far this season.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Gavin Ishmael and Hayes Dwyer. Ishmael had a great game and rushed for 151 yards on only ten carries. Meanwhile, Dwyer did his best for the losing side, throwing for 81 yards on five of 15 attempts.
Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Frederick, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Lutheran strolled past Frederick in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 21-6. Will Lutheran repeat their success, or does Frederick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
