Basketball Recap: Schlarman Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Schlarman won the last time they faced Heritage, and Noah Fowler did his part to make sure it happened again. The Schlarman Hilltoppers put the hurt on the Heritage Hawks with a sharp 64-39 win on Monday thanks in part to Fowler, who went 11 of 18 on his way to 25 points in addition to five boards and four steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jerrius Atkison, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and four steals. Atkison is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Heritage's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Dillon, who had six points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dillon a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bensyl, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points.

Schlarman is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Schlarman will host Rantoul at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Heritage, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-30 loss against Westville on the 11th.
