The Powell County Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Menifee County Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Powell County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Wildcats like a good challenge.
Powell County's game on Thursday was all tied up 30-30 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Breathitt County by a score of 80-77. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (72), Powell County still had to take the loss.
Menifee County can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Bath County by a score of 61-54. The win was just what Menifee County needed coming off of a 81-44 defeat in their prior game.
Powell County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Menifee County, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
Powell County beat the Wildcats 69-62 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Powell County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
