It was a good run, but the Lynn Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Marion County 79-73. While losing is never fun, Lynn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 104th).
When it comes to explaining why Lynn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cale Tittle. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tittle has scored all season. Braylen Roberts was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Joe Aldridge continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Marion County, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten assists. Aldridge has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tye Madison, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lynn's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Marion County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Lynn won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Marion County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Red Bay will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
