Led by No. 1 Duncanville, the top five teams in last week's Texas Top 25 high school football computer rankings held their ground this week. The Panthers (2-1) bounced back from a humbling loss to
national No. 1 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) earlier this month in resounding fashion, dominating Waco 56-9.
No. 2 Denton Ryan got four touchdowns from Texas Longhorns commit Billy Bowman in a 41-3 victory over Wakeland. The Raiders have outscored their last two opponents 82-3.
No. 3 DeSoto, No. 4 North Shore and No. 5 Denton Guyer also rolled to impressive wins. North Shore, the two-time defending Class 6A Division 1 champion, is likely not enamored with its spot at No. 4. The Mustangs are ranked No. 2 nationally in the MaxPreps Top 25 and top many state human polls.
No. 12 Tompkins and No. 17 Flower Mound Marcus were two programs who gained the most ground in the Top 25 this week. Tompkins beat Katy Taylor 28-0 on Friday while Marcus dominated rival Flower Mound 55-14.
