You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. A special shoutout goes to Cardinal Gibbons's senior Nick Frey, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Pine Forest got a 55 - 0 win over E.E. Smith last week, and a key reason for the win was junior DJ Jones. Jones earned three touchdowns and 164 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Jones one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
No Stoppin 'Em
Lee County managed to bank 350 more yards than its opponent Western Harnett last week, and going the extra distance paid off. The final score between Lee County and Western Harnett was a 63 - 3 blowout in Lee County's favor. Lee County had two big standouts, as junior Colin Johnson tossed the ball for 247 yards and three TDs, while junior Aj Boulware rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns. At 66 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Movin on Up
SouthWest Edgecombe claimed most-improved honors this week by climbing the power ranking ladder five rungs after its game against Nash Central. SouthWest Edgecombe took its contest against Nash Central by a conclusive 27 - 6 score. Senior Darntrell Council was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he ran for 126 yards and also punched in two touchdowns).
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Terry Sanford (17th in the power rankings) and South View (6th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
