The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They fell 50-42 to Curtis Baptist. Calhoun Academy found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 30% worse than the opposition.
Calhoun Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Hayes, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Strickland, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Curtis Baptist got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Husband out in front who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Husband is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Treivan Wright, who scored 13 points.
Calhoun Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Curtis Baptist, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 24-1.
Calhoun Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Curtis Baptist also has no future games currently scheduled.
