Even though Ravenscroft has not done well against the Knights recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Ravenscroft walked away with a 53-42 victory over the Knights.
Ravenscroft's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ellie Cronin, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Cronin is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Adams, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Cary Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over the Knights on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cary Academy.
Cary Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sadie McMahon led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Ravenscroft has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Cary Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Ravenscroft have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cary Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23 rebounds per game. Ravenscroft took their win against the Chargers in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 49-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ravenscroft since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
