Volcano Vista has gone a perfect 10-0 against Cibola recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Volcano Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Volcano Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Cleveland, who was ranked fifth at the time (Volcano Vista was ranked eighth). The Hawks fell just short of the Storm by a score of 8-7 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Storm: they've now lost five in a row.

Bradyn Mazuranich was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Gutierrez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cibola). They walked away with an 18-14 victory over Farmington on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Leo Lopez looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cibola got a massive performance out of Jacob Segotta, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Segotta a new career-high. Daniel Kean was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Cibola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Volcano Vista's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Cibola, their record is now 14-6.

Volcano Vista took their win against Cibola in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
