The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions will face off against the Durango Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Sierra Vista's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Durango has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Sierra Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Green Valley, who was ranked 20th at the time (Sierra Vista was ranked 13th). The Mountain Lions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators on Wednesday.
The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Sierra Vista lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22.

Sierra Vista's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Christian Diaz, who had 17 digs and two assists, and Ben La, who had seven kills and seven digs. La has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 11 times he's played.
Meanwhile, Durango didn't have quite enough to beat Southeast Career Tech on Tuesday and fell 3-2.
Durango was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Southeast Career Tech work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 27-25, 15-13.
Sierra Vista will need to focus on slowing down James Carl Serrano, one of several Durango players who made an impact when they last played. He had 46 assists and five digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Campana, who had 14 digs and two aces.
Sierra Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Durango, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.
