5A Front Range recap September 10, 2013
Fort Collins fell to Cherokee Trail 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Langston Stuckey ran for 75 yards in the loss.
Mountain Range made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,358 from 5,225. The improvement came about via a 19-10 victory over Brighton last week.
Fossil Ridge's dynamic duo of Mitchell Salmela and Nick Kravec proved to be unstoppable against Windsor, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Salmela threw for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns and Kravec had 63 yards receiving. Liam Finnegan helped Fossil Ridge's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 47 yards.
The Sabercats' dynamic duo of Salmela and Kravec proved tough for the Wizards to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Salmela put up the best numbers through the air as Fossil Ridge fell to Windsor.
Kravec was the best wideout in 5A Front Range this week as Steve Vecchio's team fell to Chris Jones' team.
Cody Limmer provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Poudre fell to Denver South. He completed 14 passes for 147 yards and also ran for 26 yards. Limmer's key target this week was Anthony Jimenez, who caught 4 passes for 46 yards.
Gabe Gillespie was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 159 yards on 28 carries as the Mustangs fell to the Wizards. Teammate Ben Waddell added to the ground attack by rushing for 36 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Salmela of Fossil Ridge is the league leader in passing yards this season with 307. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kyle Dunbabin. The Mountain Range star has 6 catches for 134 yards.
The Impalas lost in the closest game of the week to 29-27 the Rebels. Limmer was a bright spot for Poudre, as he in the defeat.
