Softball Recap: Sycamore Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Sycamore had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Huntley on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Raiders a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Sycamore, bringing their record up to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Huntley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Sycamore and Huntley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Spartans will square off against Stillman Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (21 vs. 130). Meanwhile, Huntley (ranked 48th) will meet Cary-Grove (ranked 380th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
