BRADENTON, Fla. - In spite of trailing
University (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 21 points,
Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) surged back to grab a 28-24 win over
University (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Sean White to
Jordan Scarlett, the Suns went into halftime with a 20-8 lead. The Hurricanes took the lead to win the game on a
Joshua Meyer touchdown pass to
Kelvin McKnight in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Manatee still trailed by eight points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped MHS pull out the victory.
The Bradenton school didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Meyer threw a touchdown to McKnight.
University's
Andrew DiRocco played well. He kicked one field goal and three extra points.
The loss comes after University defeated Glades Central 48-13 last week.
