After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Langston Hughes, the Paulding County Patriots were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They snuck past Douglas County with a 54-50 win. This was payback for Paulding County, who suffered a 69-39 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Alexus Wilson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Manigault, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Douglas County saw an underclassman step up: Oddyssey Murray scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Murray has scored all season.
Paulding County now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Douglas County, they dropped their record down to 10-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Paulding County will square off against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (South Paulding is ranked 239th, while the Patriots are ranked 216th). As for Douglas County, they will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Alexander focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
