Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Monday. Cashion came out on top against Morrison by a score of 5-2. The five-run effort marked Cashion's lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Kellen Smith was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Yowell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tonkawa owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. Everything went their way against Pawnee as Tonkawa made off with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kade Ditmore tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cason Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cayden Duvall, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Tonkawa lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Cashion pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Tonkawa, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Cashion took their victory against Tonkawa in their previous matchup on Saturday by a conclusive 13-2. Does Cashion have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tonkawa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
