St. Augustine scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Cathedral Catholic, 19-7. At the time, the Dons were ranked 17th in the state, while the Saints were 105th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Augustine, who defeated 17th ranked Cathedral Catholic, 19-7. Joe Joe Hudson threw for 185 yards and 1 touchdown in the win.
Richard Sanchez's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Elijah Preston contributed 113 yards. Frank Buncom IV helped St. Augustine's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 61 yards.
Preston was the best running back in Eastern this week. He ran for 113 yards on 21 carries as the Saints bested Sean Doyle's team. Tyler Herburger also contributed to the rushing game with 39 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, St. Augustine's Hudson and Ryan Harris have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Hudson has thrown for 1,009 yards this season, while Harris has 21 catches for 333 yards. The Dons' Chris Moliga leads the league in rushing yards with 855.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place St. Augustine takes on second place Scripps Ranch. Last week, the Saints defeated Cathedral Catholic, while Scripps Ranch topped Lincoln.
Fans got a thrill when Hudson and Sanchez connected against the Dons. The connection was good for 75 yards, the longest such play in Eastern this season.
