Austin Johnson and Reid Rials provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Straughn. The connection went for 62 yards, the longest such play in 2A Region 3 this season.
Elba's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Johnson threw for 223 and two touchdowns and Rials had 90 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Calloway chipped in 22 yards. Cobe Goosby helped Elba's passing attack out by catching four balls for 73 yards.
Elba's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 454 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Goosby has 15 catches for 250 yards. Darrean Burks leads the league in rushing with 315 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when New Brockton takes on Highland Home. The Gamecocks are in fifth place, while the Flying Squadron are in second place.
Calhoun led 2A Region 3 in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on Georgiana.
