Sutton has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Fairbury Jeffs at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Fairbury took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sutton, who comes in off a win.
Sutton posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They skirted past Ravenna 44-41.
Cole Baumert was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Reed, who scored ten points.
Fairbury suffered their biggest loss yet this season two weeks ago. Their tough 41-16 loss to Tri County might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fairbury has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fairbury struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Tri County racked up 13 assists.
Sutton's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Fairbury, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Sutton strolled past Fairbury in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 48-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sutton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
