Sotomayor won the last time they faced Harlan and things went their way  on Friday too. The Sotomayor WILDCATS couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the  71-42 blowout they got against the Harlan Hawks. The WILDCATS have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11  matchups by 22  points or more this season.
Sotomayor's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Jah'Dae Bussey, who  went 7 of 12  on her way to 16  points in addition to five  boards and four  steals. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jordan Pete, who  went 7 for 15  on her way to 18  points and seven  assists.
 Sotomayor  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 11  offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least ten  offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive  games.
 Despite the loss, Harlan still got an impressive performance from   Karina Vasquez, who  posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave  Vasquez a new career-high in  points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jazelle Scott, who  put up nine points.
Sotomayor pushed their record up to 17-8 with the  victory, which was their sixth straight  at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Harlan,  with the  defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-11.
 Coincidentally, Sotomayor and Harlan will both be playing Brennan the next time they take the court. Sotomayor will  host Brennan at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday, while Harlan will head out to face them  at 12:30  p.m.  on January 11th.
