Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Lakeside Lions

Roosevelt is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Lakeside is on a six-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Roosevelt Roughriders will welcome the Lakeside Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Lakeside likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Roosevelt earned a 62-55 win over Lincoln. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Lynx are ranked 167th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roosevelt's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jasmine Hall, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Hall's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Horan, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeside). They blew past West Seattle 74-23 on Friday. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Lakeside, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
