The Enloe Eagles had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They rang in the new year with a 61-49 win over Knightdale on Thursday. That 61-49 margin sets a new team best for Enloe this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Enloe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gianni McIntire, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Gift Moses, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Knightdale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jason Dickerson, who scored 16 points, and Jadon Williams who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Jamari Williams, who scored four points along with three steals.
Enloe's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. As for Knightdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
Enloe will head out on the road to face off against Southeast Raleigh at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Southeast Raleigh knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Enloe likes a good challenge. As for Knightdale, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Sanderson at 5:15 p.m. Sanderson is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
