Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Makaii Akridge out in front who went 9-for-18 on his way to 19 points. Akridge's afternoon made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Jarrell Little was another key player, putting up 16 points.
Meanwhile, Sankofa Freedom Academy entered their tilt with Mastery Charter North - Pickett on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Pumas 65-41. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Pumas are ranked 376th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sankofa Freedom Academy's win came from a few key players Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nafis Dubose, who went 7-for-12 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammad West, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks.
Sankofa Freedom Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Sankofa Freedom Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9.
