The Liberty North Eagles had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They breezed by Lee's Summit West on the road to the tune of 43-12. The result was nothing new for Liberty North, who have now won seven matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.
Liberty North can attribute much of their success to Tillman Martin, who threw for 221 yards and four touchdowns. Keelan Smith was in the mix too, providing Liberty North with two touchdowns.
Tayveon Simms and Caden Carter, Lee's Summit West certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Simms picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Carter threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Simms' longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
Liberty North's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.5 points per game. As for Lee's Summit West, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Liberty North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lee's Summit West will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Rockhurst at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Rockhurst will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
