Basketball Recap: Green Level Makes It Six in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Green Level, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 51-39 victory over the Middle Creek Mustangs on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Leading Green Level to victory were Claire Barber and Stella Eckhart. Barber went 10-for-20 to rack up 26 points along with eight steals and five boards, while Eckhart posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Those eight steals gave Barber a new career-high. Gwen Boles was another key player, putting up two points along with seven boards and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Green Level was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middle Creek only posted six assists.

Despite the loss, Middle Creek still got an impressive performance from Alysia Pergerson, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten steals. That was a full 48.7% of Middle Creek's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Koa Pa'u, who put up eight points and 12 rebounds.

Green Level pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Middle Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Level will head out to square off against Apex Friendship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Green Level is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Middle Creek, they are taking a road trip to challenge Panther Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
