Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Warren County). They strolled past Rocky Mount Prep with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 67-48. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won seven in a row.
Warren County's win came from a few key players Wilson Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Iyauna Harley, who posted 25 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. Mariah Harris was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Warren County was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Wilson Prep pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points over those games. As for Warren County, their record now sits at 11-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Wilson Prep just can't miss this season, having nailed 49.7% of their shots per game. It's a different story for Warren County, though, as they've only made 33.2% of their field goals this season. Given Wilson Prep's sizable advantage in that area, Warren County will need to find a way to close that gap.
Wilson Prep strolled past Warren County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 68-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wilson Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
