Whitehall and Allentown Central Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Zephyrs will host the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Whitehall needed a bit of extra time to put away Stroudsburg. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Mountaineers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Zephyrs.
Whitehall got a great performance from Nik Christman as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Seth Hoderewski, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Chase Miller was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Allentown Central Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Pocono Mountain West 8-7. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Matthew Rader was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kadin Hawk, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Allentown Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .667 or higher in three consecutive games.
Allentown Central Catholic's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Whitehall, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Whitehall took their win against Allentown Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5 score. Do the Zephyrs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
