Meanwhile, Arlington can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Ripley. Arlington not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th.
Brittanie Layton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Layton was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jenna Reeves and Tatum Bittick did most of the damage at the plate: Reeves went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Bittick scored three runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Bittick a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Breleigh Bunker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
This is the second loss in a row for Millington Central and nudges their season record down to 8-8-1. As for Arlington, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8-2.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Millington Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404.
