Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), Ohio's two-time defending Division I state champion, and
Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), which captured national titles in 2009 and 2011, have signed an agreement to play in 2015 and 2016, Don Bosco athletic director Brian McAleer told MaxPreps.
Don Bosco Prep, No. 18 in the
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings this week, will travel to Cincinnati in 2015, while Moeller will return the favor and head to New Jersey in 2016.
The two finalized agreements last week.
"They are a first-class high school and their A.D., Mike Asbeck, has been great to work with," McAleer said.
The 2015 game will take place on Sept. 18.
Neither program is a stranger to interstate matchups. Moeller routinely plays top teams in nearby states such as Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. Don Bosco Prep is accustomed to one or two marquee interstate contests each year as well.
Don Bosco Prep traveled to Cincinnati in 2008 to open its season against St. Xavier. It lost 17-10, in a game that was the fourth on St. Xavier's schedule.
Thus far in 2014 Moeller is 1-0, with a victory over Pickerington North. Don Bosco Prep opens its season on Saturday against St. Joseph's Prep, which is
No. 15 this week in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings.
