Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greater Lowell Tech). They blew past the Northeast Metro RVT Knights 17-2 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Gryphons, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Amaya Flood made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chelsey Quealy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Brady, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Greater Lowell Tech hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matchups.
