Basketball Recap: Point Loma Extends Winning Streak to Five

Point Loma had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Granite Hills Eagles as they made off with a 66-43 win. The Pointers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Na'Sean Hardy, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave him a new career-high. Trevor Dorris was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Point Loma smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Andre Dankha and Zedahn Smith certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Dankha posted 20 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, while Smith put up 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That was a full 46.5% of Granite Hills' points, marking the tenth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kris Mays, who posted three points and nine rebounds.

Point Loma's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Granite Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Point Loma wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 78-58 win against Santana on the 30th. As for Granite Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-55 victory against High Tech CV on the 30th.
