Softball Recap: Cypress Creek Wins Going Away Against Liberty

Cypress Creek won the last time they faced Liberty and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bears were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Chargers. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Brianna Velez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Velez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Britney Freitez and Alondra Lozada did most of the damage at the plate: Freitez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Lozada got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Freitez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adriana Ramos, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Cypress Creek hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.

Cypress Creek has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek will challenge Lake Buena Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vipers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Innovation at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Bulls have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
