The Frenchtown Broncs will take on the Corvallis Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Corvallis will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Frenchtown extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Broncs blew past Butte Central Catholic, posting a 49-7 win. The Broncs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Frenchtown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Johnson, who rushed for 83 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Jordan Warner was another key pass catcher, gaining 88 total yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Frenchtown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Frenchtown's defense and their four sacks. Henry Griffin refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Cooper Hardy got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous five matchup, Corvallis brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They claimed a resounding 41-12 victory over Stevensville. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won four in a row.
Frenchtown better keep an eye on Ayden Spencer. He was instrumental in Corvallis' win, rushing for 144 yards and four scores on only 14 carries. Spencer didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made three total tackles in addition to snagging two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Caleb Johansen, who rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.
Corvallis' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Frenchtown, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Everything came up roses for Frenchtown against Corvallis in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 42-0 victory. Will the Broncs repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
