Softball Recap: Woodland Park's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arvada, Woodland Park was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Sierra Stallions as they made off with a 14-3 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Woodland Park let Sarah Fuhrmann and Christine Renteria run wild. Fuhrmann went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Renteria went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Fuhrmann a new career-high. Aubriana Lanza also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Woodland Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra only posted an OBP of .500.

Woodland Park's record now sits at 3-11. As for Sierra, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Coming up, Woodland Park will welcome Florence at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Sierra, they will head out to take on Mitchell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marauders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.5 runs per game on average), something the Stallions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
