The Calhoun Warriors had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Saturday. They escaped with a win against Carrollton by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Calhoun also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2021.
Carrollton's loss came despite strong showings from Lauren Flowers and Abby Flowers. Flowers scored 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Flowers scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That was a full 53.3% of Carrollton's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Darci Albrecht, who scored eight points.
Calhoun pushed their record up to 21-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Carrollton, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun's road trip will continue as they head out to face Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Carrollton, they will take on West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
