Floyd Central has gone a perfect 6-0 against Lanesville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Highlanders will head out to take on the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Floyd Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Floyd Central barely beat Bedford North Lawrence the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Highlanders put the hurt on the Stars with a sharp 12-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Emmy Miller spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Breleigh Lockhart, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Addy Ware was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Floyd Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lanesville lost 11-5 to Henryville on Wednesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lanesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Mills, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Mills is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another was Raelynn Lindsey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Floyd Central pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Lanesville, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-11.
Lanesville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Floyd Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Lanesville, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Floyd Central's hitters?
Everything went Floyd Central's way against Lanesville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Floyd Central made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
