Palmer Ridge extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping them up to 15-3. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Discovery Canyon Thunder. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Pam Boyarko was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Boyarko was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Palmer Ridge let Kayleigh Garcia and Savanah Martinez run wild. Garcia went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs, while Martinez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Garcia has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambria Gibbs, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Palmer Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Discovery Canyon only posted an OBP of .400.
As for Discovery Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. They have struggled against Palmer Ridge recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
On Discovery Canyon's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Holcomb, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Taylor McCann was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer Ridge will square off against ThunderRidge at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.13 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Discovery Canyon, they will challenge Air Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
