Basketball Recap: Sahuaro Extends Winning Streak to Eight + How To Watch

Sahuaro extended their winning streak to eight on Wednesday, bumping them up to 8-0. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pueblo Warriors 79-45. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Warriors are ranked 198th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Sahuaro to victory were Cisco Llamas and Isaac Teasley. Llamas almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals, while Teasley shot 62% from the field on his way to 20 points and four steals. The matchup was Llamas' 16th in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Llamas, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points and five boards.

Sahuaro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

As for Pueblo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Carranza, who posted 13 points and four steals. Carranza is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Amare Rodriguez was another key player, putting up nine points.

Sahuaro has already played their next contest, an 86-59 defeat against Saguaro on the 12th. As for Pueblo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-62 loss against Vista Grande on the 11th.
