Northwood Temple Academy put the hurt on Falcon Christian Academy with a sharp 88-64 win on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Kenny Vera continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Anthony Mendez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan McMillian, who scored 14 points along with eight assists. Another player making a difference was Dre Glenn, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Northwood Temple Academy pushed their record up to 15-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.0 points per game. As for Falcon Christian Academy, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-1.
Northwood Temple Academy will head out on the road to take on Berean Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berean Baptist Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Northwood Temple Academy is ranked 144th). As for Falcon Christian Academy, Falcon Christian Academy and Heritage Christian Academy will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
