Archbishop McCarthy extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 15 this week by beating Barrington Christian Academy, 31-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Mavericks.
Fort Lauderdale moved up to 291 from 338 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Flying L's were able to make the jump by defeating Piper 25-6.
Archbishop McCarthy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Conor Miller threw for 85 yards and Paul Boy had 30 yards receiving. On the ground Frantz Petitpapa chipped in 108 yards. Justin Thomas helped Archbishop McCarthy's passing attack out by catching four balls for 27 yards.
Archbishop McCarthy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mavericks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brandon Vicens has thrown for 472 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Petitpapa has 24 catches for 354 yards. Vicens also leads the league in rushing with 562 yards.
A big matchup in 6A District 15 this week will be when Hollywood Hills takes on Byron Walker's team. The Spartans are currently in fourth, while the Mavericks are in first.
Archbishop McCarthy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 31 points on the falcon. Petitpapa threw for five yards and caught two passes for 26 yards in the win.
