Section 5 Livingston I recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wellsville, who took down 65th ranked Wellsville, 28-26.
Dansville moved up to 282 from 375 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 5 Livingston I. The Mustangs climbed the ranks as a result of a 42-25 win over the Mustangs.
The Lions' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dusty Baldwin threw for 156 and two touchdowns and Tom Truax had 81 yards receiving. On the ground Baldwin chipped in 32 yards. Rich Ewell helped Wellsville's passing attack out by catching four balls for 59 yards.
Wellsville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Baldwin has thrown for 513 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Ewell has nine catches for 229 yards. Tyler Brion leads the league in rushing with 252 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Wayland-Cohocton takes on Haverling. The Eagles are currently in fifth, while the Rams are in third.
Hornell extended the longest winning streak in Section 5 Livingston I this week by beating Livonia, 35-22. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
