It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Torrey Pines Falcons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past La Costa Canyon 67-65. The victory was nothing new for Torrey Pines as they're now sitting on three straight.
It was another big night for Cody Shen, who scored 31 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Matin Madadkar, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Torrey Pines has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for La Costa Canyon, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will take on El Camino at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Camino will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Torrey Pines is ranked 41st). As for La Costa Canyon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against San Dieguito Academy at 7:00 p.m. San Dieguito Academy has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
