The Poudre Impalas will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Tuesday, Poudre was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-34 to Legacy. It was the first time this season that Poudre let down their fans at home.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Hailey Brewster, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kavi Voglund, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Fort Collins faced Horizon in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fort Collins fell to Horizon 49-45. The defeat was just more heartbreak for Fort Collins, who fell 49-47 when the teams last met back in January of 2022.
Like Fort Collins, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Avery Alcaraz led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Claire Wagstaff was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Poudre's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Fort Collins, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.
Poudre was able to grind out a solid win over Fort Collins in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 38-28. Will Poudre repeat their success, or does Fort Collins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
