The Brownfield Cubs waltzed into their game Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Muleshoe with points to spare, taking the game 45-28. That's another feather in the cap for Brownfield, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Brownfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucy Guzman led the charge by scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Saldana, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Brownfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season. As for Muleshoe, they bumped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Brownfield will take on Denver City at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Denver City is ranked 736th, while Brownfield is ranked 743rd). As for Muleshoe, they will head out on the road to face off against Littlefield at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
