The Mingo Central Miners were the 55-52 winner over the WestSide Renegades when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Mingo Central took a 67-50 bruising from WestSide on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mingo Central has scored all season.
WestSide got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Bishop out in front who scored 17 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bishop has scored at least 25% of WestSide's points. Another player making a difference was Coltin Lester, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mingo Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for WestSide, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
Mingo Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tolsia at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. WestSide and Wayne will round out the year against one another at 7:40 p.m. on Friday at. Wayne has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three matches.
