Basketball Recap: Trinity Bean Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

Jemison hadn't done well against Montevallo recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Jemison Panthers enjoyed a cozy 54-35 win over the Montevallo Bulldogs. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 65-56 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Jemison's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trinity Bean, who posted 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Bean is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariyah Johnson, who had 18 points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Jemison is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Montevallo, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Jemison will face off against Montevallo at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Montevallo, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-30 defeat against Demopolis on the 17th.
