The Hidden Valley Mustangs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 19-6 to Marshfield. Hidden Valley lost against Marshfield in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-0 score last time.
Marshfield had a senior duo take command as Canyon Niblett picked up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns and John Lemmons rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Hidden Valley's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Marshfield, Mazama, and Ashland. As for Marshfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Hidden Valley will head out on the road to face off against Cottage Grove on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oregon (Cottage Grove is ranked 134th, while Hidden Valley is ranked 113th). As for Marshfield, they will be playing at home against Mazama at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mazama's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
