Softball Recap: Whitney Snags 12th Victory in Last 15 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Whitney rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Woodcreek Timberwolves 7-1. Considering the Wildcats have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Taylor Cordell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tylie Kitchen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Bri Seffens was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Whitney is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodcreek, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 23-6 record.

Whitney didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Rocklin on the 24th. Woodcreek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
